Sorn, an ethnic Shan sex worker from Myanmar, navigates the harsh realities of life in Chiang Mai, Thailand. In an attempt to cope with his grim circumstances, he frequently immerses himself in fantasies where he takes on the roles and experiences of his clients. One client, a police officer who is investigating a political activist, particularly captivates Sorn's imagination. Their relationship becomes increasingly complex as they interact both professionally and personally. Despite these entanglements, Sorn continues to dream of building a future for himself far from home, as a refugee in a place where he can escape the confines of his current life. However, the line between reality and fantasy blurs, making it difficult for him to find clarity about his true desires and the path forward. This narrative not only highlights Sorn's struggle with identity and belonging but also sheds light on the broader issues faced by sex workers in border regions, the psychological impacts of displacement, and the complex dynamics that arise when individuals from different walks of life cross paths.
